CHURCH OF THE HILLS
This church is known for Sunday morning services with an open heart to Him, but an ”out-of-the-box”, new wine skin approach. So it didn’t alarm me when the pastor asked if I would do something unlike any logo he had seen. Being that there are vineyards in the area and the church offers true “wine”, I made the logo like a wine label. For the image, I found a view overlooking a creek west of the church. This site has been set aside to recognize the last Indian massacre in the county. How fitting of an image to convey His desire to pour out grace abounding through His church.

SEASIDE SAFARI AT MOODY GARDENS - Galveston, Texas
Seaside Safari, part of Hope Therapy, is one of several philanthropic projects of the Moody Foundation established for individuals confined to wheelchairs, children, the elderly, emotionally disturbed, or mentally retarded. Touching and relating to the animals provides pleasure and immense psychological benefit to everyone who enters.

I chose to illustrate a cockatiel to fit with tropical, lush rainforests and beach life. The type is also hand rendered for effect. Something one doesn’t see much these days.

PREPARING THE WAY MINISTRIES
As is my custom when creating a logo, I most often send 3-5 ideas. I rendered this simply in Illustrator, so it could work on the web or a CD series jacket back. It was my personal favorite of the lot.

TEMPLO KOINONIA
A Spanish church founded on the principles of fellowship found in the book of Acts. Acts 2:42 “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”

I wanted a powerful, simple universal symbol for the communion of the saints, one that could work in any language. This one doesn’t take any words to talk.

IDEAS
This logo was developed for a missionary to Albania. At the time he was traveling there, he needed a “tent-making” company as a front to legitimize his frequent trips into the then closed country. I wish I could remember exactly what the acronym stood for. It was crafted from an old engraving and Goudy hand-tooled type.
